I'll never forget being in the room of the Logan Hospital, watching as Zildy held Jasmine proudly in her arms and Shayden (age 3 at the time) sitting right next to mommy smiling and watching his brand new sister. He said, "Can I hold her." We hesitated a little but agreed to let him do so. As he held his sister for the first time (I helped support her and made sure she didn't fall) you could see his tiny little face glow with pride and excitement. He was holding a baby for the first time and not just any baby, but rather his sister, whom you could tell he had already formed a bond, love and protection for her. We took the opportunity to ask Shayden to always watch over her and always make sure that she was protected. At that moment, I could have never imagine that a little tiny soul such as his could nor would take such a request to literal. The bond they share is a beautiful one that any parent would be so proud of.
